Oreo

Mixed Breed / Moggie | 8 years old

Description

We are extremely sad to be listing our gorgeous cat, Oreo for rehoming. We have had her for 7 years now having adopted her as a kitten through Cats Protection as a direct home to home adoption along with her sister. She got along well with her sister for a few years, but after moving to our last property their relationship broke down. They are unfortunately now unable to be kept together as they are terrified of each other. Oreo has lived with children before, but that was only until the age of 1 when she was adopted by us. We are a family of two adults (plus her feline sister) so we don’t think she would get along well with children. Oreo is the most sweet natured, loving, and caring cat I have ever met and her utterly gorgeous disposition is perfect for anyone able to take the time to gain her trust.
She absolutely loves playing with her DaBird wand toys, resting up in high places, and curling up on the sofa near you. She has one of the loudest purrs I have heard! She is very nervous of new people and it will take time for her to trust, but once she does she is incredibly doting and loving. Once Oreo trusts and loves you, she does get anxious if you leave her on her own for long periods of time, so she would do best in a home where people are not away from the house for lengthy periods of time. She’s also very used to a set routine, so any new home of hers will get the best out of her if you can give her regularity!
Oreo eats Purina dry food (she does eat wet food, but she’s incredibly fussy) and pretty much all treats. She is partial to the Felix stars! She has no known allergies, and no known health conditions of note. She does have a tendency to flaring up with conjunctivitis sometimes through the year, but other than that she is generally well. She was previously on fluoxetine for anxiety to try and aid with reintroduction efforts with her sister, but she is no longer.
Oreo must not go to a home with another animal already present in the house, and ideally, without children. We are seeking to find a restful, anxiety reducing solution for our lovely girl and we don’t want her to experience any further stresses with other animals in particular.
We really hope you give Oreo a good home. It is truly heartbreaking for us to seek a new home for her, but we know it is for the best.

PetRehomer says: Oreo is a gorgeous lady looking for a new home. Her relationship with her fur sister has broken down and they no longer see eye to eye, causing her owners to make the difficult decision to re-home her for her own sanity. Oreo does have a tendency to get conjunctivitis, however her current vet isn't sure if this is down to stress, so this could improve or disappear in a new home. She does take a while to warm up to new people, so an owner who has the time and patience to dedicate to her in the first few weeks would be ideal. She also loves a routine, and doesn't like to be left alone for too long, so someone who works from home or is retired would be a great fit. She does not get on with children, therefore will need a house which is adult-only. Oreo is a sweet natured, loving, and caring cat and her gorgeous disposition is perfect for anyone able to take the time to gain her trust.
